  Ciro Poppiti thanks New Castle County Voters for his election to the office of Register of Wills in New Castle County, Delaware

NINA BAWA NAMED CHIEF DEPUTY

TRANSITION TEAM SET / NELLO PAOLI TO CO-CHAIR

WILMINGTON, DE -- Ciro Poppiti, New Castle County’s Register of Wills Elect, is pleased to announce that the Hon. Nina M. Bawa, the current Register of Wills, will stay on as Chief Deputy of the Office.

“I am absolutely thrilled that Nina will continue to manage the Office,” said Poppiti.  “She understands the day-to-day workings of the Office better than anyone.  Moreover, she provides a depth of continuity that is irreplaceable.”

Poppiti has also set his Transition Team, which Bawa and civic activist Nello Paoli will co-chair.

“Nello has a great understanding of how County government works, having been a special assistant to County Executive Chris Coons.  He is a trusted friend and ally.”

The remaining members of the Transition Team are:

·        Bayard W. Allmond, III, Esq., a partner at Allmond and Eastburn, who brings an expertise in the practice of Wills & Estates;

·        Thomas G. Ferrier, chief deputy for the Recorder of Deeds, who brings an expertise in the best practices of the row offices;

·        Mihir Patel, Esq., an attorney and entrepreneur, who brings an expertise in economic development;

·        Miguel D. Pena, Esq., a partner at Fox Rothschild, who brings an expertise in the practice of Wills & Estates;

·        John "Jack" Polidori, regional political director for the National Education Association, who brings an expertise in public administration;

·        Primus Poppiti, information technology manager of QVC.com, who brings an expertise in information technology; Primus is Ciro's brother;

·        Jeffrey A. Santoro, founder of the Delaware All-State Theatre, who brings an expertise in community outreach;

·        Hon. Hanifa Shabazz, a Wilmington city councilwoman, who brings an expertise in public administration;

·        Richa Shah, manager of Ciro's campaign, who brings an expertise in public communication;

·        Luigi J. Vitrone, president of the Little Italy Neighborhood Association in Wilmington, who brings an expertise in community outreach;

·        Anthony S. "T.J." Voell, assistant vice-president with Bank of America, who brings an expertise in community outreach; and

·        David A. Voell, assistant vice-president with Bank of America, who brings an expertise in community outreach.

“I am very proud that such a talented group of individuals would take time from their busy schedules to help improve the Office.  This Team includes Democrats and Republicans, from all walks of life and from every part of our great County.”

Hon. Nina M. Bawa was appointed Register of Wills by Gov. Jack Markell in March of this year. She had previously served as the Office’s Chief Deputy for the past five years. Bawa is a graduate of the University of Delaware and holds a Masters of Science in Public Administration from Wilmington University.  During her tenure, Bawa has implemented new technology to increase efficiency and to improve the integrity of the records in the office.

The Register of Wills is the County probate office and a branch of Chancery Court.  Poppiti will officially take office in January.
